Procedure steps 1-8 |
1) take standard precautions 2) perform primary; Loc, C/C ABC’s, expose, rapid scan, deciding transport 3) invstg. C/C 4) obtain SAMPLE / OPQRSTI 5) obtain Vitals; PUP./LS/RR/BP/S.C/ HR/ BGL/ P.O / CAP REFILL 6) perform focused physical; DCAP-BLS-TIC (deformities, contusions, abrasions, punctures penetrations, burns, lacerations, swelling, tenderness, instability, crepitus) 7) determine pt has OWN epi & protocols allow 8) 6 rights; pt, medication, route , dose, date, time (pmrddd) |

9) Confirm epi dose; peds: 0.15 mg, adults: 0.3 mg 10) explain procedure, instruct not to move 11) remove safety cap from epi, 90* angle insert into lateral thigh midway between hip and knee 13) push into thigh until injector makes activation click- hold to thigh for 10 sec. to discharge completely 14) remove epi placing directly into the SHARPS CONTAINER |

15) reassess after 5 mins, its condition and vitals 16) Document mess; Dart: Dose, action, route, time and pts response+\- 17) monitor condition; if improves: continue oxygenation, monitoring vitals and transport Worsens: continue oxygenation, contact medical control/ protocols online or offline in regards to another dose of epi |
