The War Of Austrian Succession

This was a war between Prussia and Austria where Prussia gained Silesia, enlarging PRussia even more. This was the first part of the PArtitioning of Poland.

The 7 Years War

Britain and Prussia vs. France and Austria. Starts in 1756 when Frederick the Great attacks saxony. England's financing and navy allows them to win. Took place because British wanted to expand American interior but France was in the way. War was also fought in India.

The Partition of Poland

When Poland was split between Austria, Russia, and Prussia. Austria took the largest part (50%) of Poland.

The Pugacev Rebellion

Emelyian Pugacev was the leader f the rebellion, where the cossacks that were originally for Russia, rebelled to be a part of the government. Peasants joined in on the revolt also. This rebellion was successful and a failure as the reforms were made, but Emelyian was capture, tortured and killed.

Infanticide

The purposeful killing of babies to releve stress on parents of having to raise another child. Often happened because parents didn't have enough money to raise the child.

Cottage Industry

Also known as the putting out method. Aristocratic euntreponures went to cottages in rural areas and "put out" raw material that the people in those cottages turned into finished goods (ex: cotton to cloth). Called the cottage industry because people worked in cottages.
