Dose: Adult
Adult: Asthmatic bronchospasm unresponsive to albuterol and Ipratropium Bromide (Atrovent) 0.3 to 0.5 mg SQ

Allergic reaction/anaphylactic shock: 0.3 to 0.5 SQ

Dose: Pediatric
Asthmatic bronchospasm unrelieved by Albuterol or Ipratropium Bromide (aAtrovent) 0.01mg/kg (maximum is 0.3 mg per dose)

Allergic reaction/anaphylactic shock: 0.01 mg/kg (maximum is 0.3 mg per dose)

ETT: 0.1 mg/kg followed by 2 to 3 mLNS flush (dose may exceed adult dose)

Drug Action:
Alpha: Peripheral vasoconstriction which increases coronary and cerebral perfusion and increases blood pressure in anaphylaxis

Beta 1: Increase heart rate and improves force of venricular contractions

Beta 2: Bronchodilation

Allergic reaction/anaphylactic shock

Asthmatic bronchospasm unrelieved by albuterol and Ipratropium Bromide (Atrovent)

Pediatric cardiac arrest (ETT only)

Precautions
CPR: NONE

Allergic Reaction/ anaphgylactic shock / Asthma: Monitor ECG closely

Patients on Beta blockers may need Glucagon or higher doses of Epinepherine

Massage the injection site vigorously after SC injections

Tachycardia
Ventricular arrhythmias
Chest Pain
Headache
Flushing
Nausea/vomiting (N/V)

Contraindication
CPR None

Asthma: Heart disease, history of AMI, Age greater than 45, Arrhythmias, Labor
