Progressive era effects on California Constitution
The California Constitution is one of the longest in the world because it can be amended by initiatives passed by voters, and has been over 500 times since 1911. This stems from the early 20th century when railroad companies controlled California politics and economy. These amendments allowed for the voters to have a great effect on California politics.
