‘The Internship’, proves that conflict within a team is inevitable. The first conflict situation in the movie is when the team is faced with a debugging challenge. Due to their lack of technical knowledge, Billy and Nick are suggesting many ways to solve their problem, however it lacks the substance needed to solve the actual problem and the team begins to shout at each other. Yo-Yo, Neha, and Stuart decide to send Billy and Nick away to find a professor who is bald, in a wheelchair and has a British accent at Stanford that might be able to help them solve the debugging challenge. Naturally, the young interns have made up this up in order to send Billy and Nick away while they solve the problem. In this example the conflict within the team isn’t solved in a proper mature manner, which is why conflict management skills is imperative in a team. According to (Russell , Akerman, Topper, & Oliveira, 2014), “conflict is inevitable due to the complexity of human relations and the pressures under which modern society puts us”. Conflict in a team arises from namely three situations. The first being ‘role overload’, which define as “when one member of the team (often willingly) takes on more than he/she can cope with”. Intern Nation by author Ross Perlin analyzes the current state of internships in astoundingly immensedetail. In specific, Perlin focuses on the variety of internships, including “the good, the bad, and the ugly; the paid and the unpaid; the ostensibly academic and the completely untethered; part-time internships lasting a few weeks and full-time ones last a year” (XVI). These elements are described through first-hand accounts; for example, the interns at Disney World and the government interns on Capitol Hills. These elements are also described through in-depth investigation; for example, the 18 percent of interns who work without pay or the evidence of companies and government organizations firing full-time paid staff and replacing them with…

Conflict is an inevitable part of business; thus, teams must look for the right strategy to manage and resolve conflict and maintain positive working relationships among team members. Numerous research and studies have been dedicated to the study of conflict management styles (Hample and Dallinger, 1995 and Wilmot and Hocker, 2001) and their implication for relational outcomes. I assume many people in our class will describe the specific steps in resolving a conflict in a similar way; therefore, let me take an alternative way to address this issue.…
