Summary of storyline

Billy McMahon (Vince Vaughn) and Nick Campbell (Owen Wilson) are agents (intermediaries) and are employed by Sammy (John Goodman) at his distribution representative company. Things subsequently take a turn for the worst when they lose their jobs as their employer goes out of business due to the competitive market. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, Billy secures an interview for an internship at Google and despite a lack of relevant skills and experience they are accepted into the internship programme based on their unorthodox interview answers.

An example of this how Stuart, Yo-Yo and Neha had to take on the roles of Billy and Nick due to their inadequate computer technology ability which resulted into a conflict with in the team.
Role of conflict – occurs when more than one member wants to play a certain role
Role ambiguity – occurs when there is a lack of clarity between the roles members are expected to play.

Functional conflict vs. Dysfunctional conflict
Functional conflict is non aggressive and allows for the stimulation of creativity and allows ideas to flow whereas dysfunctional conflict is an aggressive and can be detrimental to team morale and productivity.

Advantages of conflict

• Helps to crate awareness of a problem that can then be addressed to the benefit of the business
• Stimulates creative thinking
• Helps people to understand a problem better
