For example, after a change in the environment has occurred, there may be few organisms with a certain trait that gives them an advantage that helps them survive. Before, this trait might not have been useful and was sparse in the population, but after the change in the environment this trait has now become an advantage and begins to become more popular among the population. This causes those with the special trait to have a better chance at surviving and reproducing. This is referred to as an organism’s fitness. The traits that make for an organism to have a high fitness can vary from population to population. In America, many of the traits that dictate reproductive success are very different from the traits that would dictate reproductive success in developing countries. In America, most do not have to hunt for food, but just push a button to roll their window down. Whereas in some parts of Africa, many have to hunt for their food, causing a need for speed.
