Competition in a biome is an organism’s enemy fighting over food or territory. Life in any biome includes producers like plants and other photosynthetic organisms. Consumers are organisms that obtain their energy from producers. These consumers may be further classified as herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores.
Predation
Predation is the preying of one animal on others. An example of predation is wolves and caribou both live in the arctic tundra. The wolf is the predator. He hunts the Caribou and eats it for energy. The caribou eats plant life to obtain energy.
Another example would be the Polar Bear. The Polar Bear eats the Arctic Fox for energy. The Arctic Fox eats other small rodents to obtain energy.
