My name is Elton Husband And my Biome and animal is the Savanna and the Hyena. The Savanna is basically covered with lots of rolling grassland with several isolated trees and shrubs. You can also call the Savanna Tropical grassland. This Biome could be found between or around a tropical rainforest and a Desert. You can find them on both sides of the equator near Tropical Rainforest. The temperatures and seasons in a Savanna are very funny. The temperature mainly is kind of warm all year. There are two different seasons in a Savanna. When its winter it’s a very long and dry season but when it’s the summer time it’s a log and wet season. During the dry season or the winter you can say about 4 inches of rain falls on an average. During the months of December through February it will be a drought, which means no rain will fall at all. Hyenas are carnivorous. In the wild the only their only predators are humans. Hyenas usually grow to be about 28 to 35 inches tall and weigh up to about 90 to 190 pounds. In this species the female is the dominant spouse because they outweigh the male by 3 pounds. With Hyenas it is also hard to tell the males from the females because they are not hermaphrodites. Although you can’t tell them apart the female is the only one who will bear and nurse the young cubs. The females try to appear very strong and big to protect their cubs from other young males because hyenas can have cannibalistic ways

If the name Headwaters Forest Preserve does not ring a bell, you might recall Julia Butterfly Hill, who spent 738 days between 12/10/1997 and 12/18/1999 in the tree affectionately known as "Luna," to prevent Pacific Lumber Company loggers from cutting it down. Pacific Lumber had been bought by Maxxam Corp., and they were clear cutting everything in sight to pay off the bonds they sold to buy this forest. Pacific Lumber, which had been doing sustainable logging for generations, suddenly became an environmental villain due to the hostile takeover. Senator Dianne Feinstein helped put together $380 million in state and federal money to purchase Headwaters, a pristine old growth redwood forest, within the Pacific Lumber lands, east of Eureka.…

Verona Park has always been an interesting wilderness park to explore in the Essex County area. Although there are other parks such as Brookdale Park, Branch Brook Park, South Mountain Reservation, and Eagle Rock Reservation, I do not find them as interesting as Verona Park. During the winter, there are no activities for the families to do, besides walk around the park. But during the warmer weather months, they offer various types of activities, such as paddle boating, tennis courts, a playground and a Children’s garden. This ecosystem has beautiful scenery for everyone to enjoy.…

Some of the biomes I have found is deciduous forest, coniferous forest, grasslands, savanna, tundra, and alpine biomes. Each one has their own average temperatures, typical animals and plants. Towards the northern part of the state there are more harsh temperatures and weather compared to the lower part. The southern part though gets pretty harsh temperatures and weather itself.…

The Great Bear Rainforest is a temperate rainforest of 6.4 million hectares, home to many rare and endangered species, as well as watersheds that provide the best salmon runs left in Canada. Unfortunately, the Great Bear Rainforest is under threat due to clearcutting and its effects on the environment. According to the David Suzuki Foundation, “30% of logging in the Great Bear Rainforest has been in watersheds since 2001”, meaning the water quality of that area has been affected. As for wildlife, deforestation is one of the leading causes of animal extinction in the world today. Due to the negative effects deforestation has on wildlife and watersheds, the acts of clearcutting in the Great Bear Rainforest must subside.…
