Opening soon; new Dunkin Donuts As a newly promoted district manager my goal is to share my passion for results while expanding my managerial skills, problem solving, and decision making skills, at each of the five different locations. There are many things that I now have to take care of as a District Manager with being responsible for five different stores; I will work hard at making each store as successful as possible to achieve this; by utilizing the vast support network and franchising experience that has been made available to me, and by making the needs of the customers that come through the doors a priority. Those who are the most qualified for the job in the end will obtain employment within the company; whether they are black, white, male, female, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or have disabilities, making sure that the staff is evenly balanced making sure that there is nobody that is left behind due to discrimination. I also have to recognize the demographic changes in the workforce and develop new and different recruiting strategies to attract and retain the employees that I currently have on staff, while taking into account any labor shortages in the area. (Wiley, 1992) I do have knowledge about truth-in-hiring law; knowing that I have to the obligation to protect the company from being held liable for not being truthful based on the false promises, false claims, or any misrepresentations that have been made to the employees during the recruitment or promotion process. The goals of diversity training is to inform employees about the positive effects of diversity, to positively change attitudes, and to help them know how to deal with diversity issues at work. (Waight, & Madera, 2011) With realizing that there is a number of people that that are either literate and ill-skilled this is where some companies adopt a school, to help those interested in a certain field gain the knowledge to be better equip to perform the job, some employers will pay you to further your education. (Wiley, 1992) This is where Dunkin Donuts steps in with our employees offering them online educational classroom training, some of the courses that are offered that need to be completed; depending on the station you will be working at; some of the courses that would need to be completed are preparation of food and beverages, customer service and register operations, health, safety and emergency preparedness. (Dunkin Donuts Skillport) The performance appraisal is there to help the employee how they are doing at work compared to the standards of the company or the other workers. It shows the areas that they excel in and also the areas that need improvement. During my time in the managerial field I have found that the 360-degree assessment technique works very well.
