The Romanticism is described to be as an intellectual, artistic and literary movement during the eighteenth century. The two writer’s William Blake and William Wordsworth genres of poetry are imbued with imagination, vivid imagery and personification of nature as befitting all the other poetry poets in the romantic period. Both William Blake and William Wordsworth embody profound reverence and adoration to life, bringing out their thoughts in a clear diction that is understandable to the masses and aids in bringing out the beauty and creativity in their works. The two authors filled their works with profound symbolism as shown in William Wordsworth Poems “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud”, “Intimations of Immortality” and “Tintern Abbey”, and William Blake’s “The Divine Image and Echoing Green”. His efforts were also aimed at inspiring and motivating, he used nature in his works to create transcendental beauty and tranquility in the minds of his readers. It is as seen in the poem, “I wandered lonely as a cloud” where he personifies nature and gives it an important aspect of human life as shown by these stanzas;
For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
At the same time, William Blake accomplishments were also easy to understand and created poetry that had profound (thoughtful) meanings, sublime emotions that captured the reader’s imaginations. William Blake poems are accompanied with illustration, paintings and songs making it more grasping to readers. William Blake role aimed at personifying (symbolizing) nature and giving it life while at the same time talking about what was happening and the role the divinity in people’s life as shown in his poem, “the Echoing Green” stanza.
