In the Pardoner’s talk show, the aspect how were women were treated at that time. Women in medieval times were not really taken seriously. Common women are totally dominated by the male and, even sometimes sold. In fact, they were only taught manners, etiquette and the principles of the courtly love. Whether you were poor or rich, it was mostly about the money. Money shows how powerful kind of men or women you were. Chaucer shows how greed can be the root of evil. In the beginning, the brothers were looking for death to kill him. Then they end finding some gold in a large oak tree. The brothers send Oswald to look for food and wine while the other two guard the gold. With this intention, Oswald arguing with himself that he should only have the gold since he was the one found it. Furthermore, he buys poison and dips it in the wine. The two brothers realized and they end up killing him to keep more gold for them, they also drink the wine and die. The old lady found them and says “ You think you can defeat death/ It cannot be done. Your greed was the poison that killed you” (Chaucer 122-124). Chaucer shows that people are willing to do anything for money. They want it for themselves, maybe for
