In The United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, Article 30 states ‘Children have the right to learn and use the language and customs of their families…’. Comenius also believed in equal education which is also evident in the UN Conventions on the Rights of a Child in Article 28, ‘Children have the right to an education.’
The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework states in the Community outcome that children respond to diversity with respect. Children will become aware of connections, explore diversity and be inclusive. Living in a culturally diverse country we must encourage and teach children to be inclusive of all cultures, celebrate different events throughout the year and except everyone no matter their beliefs, origin or developmental level. This reflects Comenius ideas of equality and education for all.
