Is freedom something that can be freely given, or is it something that is fought for? A lot believe freedom should be granted, others think that it should be earned. Birth rights exist and have been given to us, but with society it isn’t granted. Which is why many fight for justice in order to get those rights, and even then, they’re not given. But if we did get freedom, would there be world peace? Some could take advantage and take it for granted, using it as an excuse to abuse that power. But although we might not admit it, working for our freedom has taught us values. And bring us together as a community. Tom Robinson was falsely accused of raping Mayella, and has been charged guilty of a crime he did not commit. He has to fight for his freedom by proving he is not guilty of committing the crime. If not he will be seen as guilty and ruined reputation as well as seen as a criminal. Towards the end, although he fought to prove he was innocent, judges were prejudiced based on his skin, which is why they decided he was guilty even though with the facts everyone knew he wasn’t. But only because of his appearance did he lose. In conclusion, although he was innocent he still had to fight for his freedom, and because of this society judging him for his skin color they had a biased opinion so he was found guilty. So freedom is fought for, not given to us like in this case where Tom Robinson had to fight for it. And even then, he still didn’t receive his freedom because of the world’s racism. In the Scottsboro boys case, they were charged with beating a group of kids as well as raping two girls that were aboard the train as well.
