One of the most powerful female characters in the play is Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth has a great impact on Macbeth’s life. Throughout the play Lady Macbeth displays courage, control and support. In the begging of the play Lady Macbeth reviews a letter; explain in detail the witches’ prophecies (1.5.41-57). Lady Macbeth and Macbeth deceive the other characters; they put on fake smile, for the guest to believe their innocence. Lady Macbeth takes her role so seriously; she faints immediately after Duncan’s death. Once, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth kill Duncan; they start experiencing guilt. Consequently, they can’t tell anyone of the mysterious of that night; causing them to look up their secrets between themselves (Fairs is Foul) is a case of reality vs deception. Although, you may think you know someone; you really don’t. In most case, people act differently around everyone. It’s difference between how someone seems, and who they really are. In most plays we tend to notice how characters open up to some characters, and tend to mask who they really are with others. Even though Lady Macbeth controls her husband, she tends to lose it at the banquet. This is the downfall of Macbeth; were he sees the ghost of Banquo. Lady Macbeth tries to handle the situation, but Macbeth’s guilt overrules; causing her weak side to appear.
