Edgar Allen Poe is one of the most interesting and prolific horror writers of the last 200 years. He was well known as a writer, editor and literary critic and even presented a critical review of his own work the Raven in the form of the Philosophy of Composition. The Raven was one of the most interesting and simple poems to capture the reader of the time with its mysterious and macabre style. Originally published in January 1845 to instant success, it has continued to be widely read and popular over the years. Edgar Allan Poe with the popularity of the poem he took an opportunity with the Philosophy of Composition to review the Raven and present a very systematic approach to the writing process.

This was completely different from the transcendental value of the senses and intuition revealing truth and reality. The most scathing critic, unfortunately, was Rufus Wilmot Griswold, who slandered the poem. Griswold so disliked Poe he attempted to kill even his legacy once Poe had died.
