America is long overdue to give respect and appreciation to Mexico. America does a lot of trade and even has millions of people visiting this beautiful country every year. We should abolish the hateful stigma surrounding their respectable culture and land. As Americans, especially those that embrace their culture simply by eating their food or listening to their music, we should help change this cruel attitude towards Mexico. The perspective of some individuals has become vindictive and hypocritical when Mexico is talked about. This is the objective that Anthony Bourdain sheds light on in his article,”Bourdain’s Field Notes:Mexico.” His first-hand experience of being a chef in Mexico, has led him to strongly and passionately argue his opinion …show more content…
For example, when Bourdain talks about how important people from Mexico are to our country, he states some reasoning that can definitely come off as somewhat offensive, but you can tell he is coming from a good place. He reasons with, “Despite our ridiculously hypocritical attitudes towards immigration, we demand that Mexicans cook a large percentage of the food we eat, grow the ingredients we need to make that food, clean our houses, mow our lawns, wash our dishes, and look after our children.” (Bourdain 1) This can honestly affect some readers into thinking that he is just another closed minded American. He does end up proving himself through his words and going further in depth on what he means by saying Mexicans are harder workers than Americans. For instance, when he says,“Mexicans do much of the work in this country that Americans, probably, simply won’t do.” (Bourdain 1). This goes to show that Mexican people are resilient and willing to do the dirty work that most people won’t do. He also goes into defending people against immigration by explaining they aren’t “stealing” jobs, they are simply taking the essential jobs that Americans don’t care to
