There are many resources that are uncovered through a basic internet search for the terms ‘child mental health risk factors’ and ‘child mental health resilience’. Some of the sources are scholarly and peer reviewed while others are more popular and mainstream in nature. In order to enhance my previous learning in the course, I selected to review scholarly resources from a number of research journals as well as information from the reputable organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research. Canadian Mental Health Association. From reviewing these resources, it is obvious that mental health of the population, and specifically in that of children, is critical. The WHO (2012) background paper on this topic included an informative diagram that show how the overview of risks over the life course. This comprehensive schematic shows the risks factors that impact growth and development of individuals over their life course through various settings (that is, home/family, school, media/information, work, community home) as they impacted by risks associated with the culture, community, family, and individual (see figure 2, p. 6). Taking the life course perspective of risks to mental health useful because it shows the overlap of risks over time. However, the diagram does not address the strength of association that one factor might have with another and the variables related to causation. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health recognizes that it is difficult to determine given the context of each case (CAMH,
