Are there really that many placebos throughout your daily life that you may not even know about? Placebo is found everywhere in your life, in people's medicine or medical treatments, elevator buttons, cross-walk buttons, and even thermostats are all used as placebos in people's daily lives to make them feel like they have a better sense of control.

This is proven in passage two with, "One respondent, David Trimble of Fort Collins, Colo., told The News that people "felt better" that they could control the temperature in their work space after a nonfunctioning thermostat was installed. "This cut down the number of service calls by over 75 percent," he wrote. This quote from an office worker proves that the placebo thermostats work. This is because many of the people who were able to change the dummy thermostat felt better after changing the temperature and just the fact that they have the ability to change the temperature, resulting in many less calls to service to complain about the temperature and ask them to change it. So that explains how a placebo is used in an office environment which many people are in on a day to day
