When I read it, it was like they were forced to be near the alien. The word used to describe the humans was “terrans” I compared it to how in slavery days the masters and owners would use the word “nigger” or “negro” as a derogatory word for the slaves in order to make them feel as though they were below their masters. Just like slaves in the south “terrans” were not allowed cars or way of transportation. They only were provided farm equipment.
I compared both slaves and terrans in Bloodchild and found that they had quite a few things in common, they both had no rights, they both had to sacrifice a loved one into doing things that they did not want to do, they both ended up just accepting it as a way of life rather than fighting it off. Even though sometimes it was both male and females being sent off as slaves they both have the same background.
