The problem with persons considered to be a knight of faith is that you never know if they are actually saying the truth or just making things up. It can be inferred that if Kierkegaard were to analyze Jim into more depth he would not consider him a knight of faith. This is said for the reason that once Jim Jones’ past is analyzed it can be discovered that what he preached he did not follow. And a knight of faith believes very passionately what he preaches. “As part of his teachings, Jones discouraged sex and romantic relationships. He on the other hand, had several adulterous relationships…” Thus, showing that Jim in fact did not believe most of what he preached. If he were to have believed it, he would have followed his own beliefs. Yet he did not, which that speaks a lot of what he really believed on. If the knight of faith does not believe what he supposedly believes, then he is making things up. Therefore Kierkegaard would not believe Jim as a knight of faith, because not even Jim believed himself. Another factor as in to why Jim invented things up is that he would lure his followers on what they wanted. As Teri Buford O’Shea a survivor from the incident once said in an interview, “He always homed in on what you needed and managed to bring you in emotionally.” Yet that is something that a knight of faith would not do. A knight of faith will not try to change things up just so others
