Mr.Caulfield like most teens has the desire for independence. Mr.Caufield does not show any desire to go see either of his parents. He has basically lived majority of his life away from home at schools, and because of this has learned to be very self reliant. When Holden receives the news that he has been expelled from Pencey he decides to not tell his parents that he has been booted from the school right away. in our 3rd session he says “In my mind, I'm the biggest sex maniac you ever saw. Sometimes I can think of very crumby stuff I wouldn't mind doing if the opportunity came up.” (Pg. 62) He has disclosed to me that he is a virgin ,yet he has still has had some encounters with sex. He told me that back in a hotel in New York he actually picked up a prostitute. He says that he never did anything with the girl. This shows that he like most adolescent boys is looking for pleasure/affection. He also goes on to say how he has had a copious amount of opportunities to "give the time" to women but every time he has the chance he doesn't know what to do. Teanagers wnat to expiriment with sex becasue they think most people are doing it ,which is not true.
