The United States came from a place of starvations to a land of obesity in a matter of years. The questions that presents itself is how has the government let and continue to let this happened? When the United States was in a state of starvation farmers and government officials were trying to figure how they could bring the nation out of the crisis but in return when things got better farmers never slowed down production of foods leading to an overfilled grocery store that has a majority of foods with no nutritional value. The reason the government hasn’t slowed down the production of these junk filled foods is one thing; money. The majority of United States government officials don’t care about health problems facing their citizens. The only reason they have created “dietary guidelines” is to cover their back so if people, their people get sick and dies they can ask whether the person followed the guidelines if not it is considered not their problem. What they don’t know is that most of these people are not knowledgeable about the food like others and also the good organic food may not be accessible to them so all that surrounds them is the processed foods that the government makes money off. Majority of officials do not care to them their mission is about the amount of dollar bills they can obtain.
