The book Fahrenheit 451 is based on a censorship society which means that the government rules what the community does. The government, in this case, wants to control that nobody owns books or has a great deal of education. They would rather the people have the technology rather than education. It is important that everyone does their best to avoid censorship because the people in the community could have more freedom, more room for education, and they may also be able to change the controllingness of the government.
The major item that is censored in this society, is having books. Books give people a better chance to have an education, and learn about the past, and maybe sometimes the future as well. An example of this might be, “I-I’ve been thinking. About the last five weeks. About the man whose library, we fixed. What happened to him?” “He wasn’t insane.” “Any man’s insane who ‘thinks’ he can fool the government and the people (page 31).” This evidence is stating that nobody is likely to hide having books from the government. No one can outsmart the government, no one can be like them. They are starting to think about the government and they realize that what the government is doing is wrong. Another example of this is “They want to know what I do with all my time. I tell them that sometime just sit and think (page 20).” This is stating that thinking too much can ruin most people’s lives. It takes up people’s time and then they never have time for family, or sports, or even school. When the people think they begin to ask questions, and then they may all receive the answers that they might not want to hear. Whenever people start to think, they begin to wonder what is wrong with the world, and what they can do to change the
