I get a feeling of joy and fulfillment when I help translate for Spanish speakers. The relief I see in their eyes after they ask for a Spanish-speaking volunteer, and that I am there to help, serves as reassurance. I am reassured that what I am doing is meaningful and life-changing. Interacting with these patients from different Spanish-speaking countries has made me realize that the Spanish language is very diverse. From my interactions and multiple conversations with the individuals, I have learned a lot of new terms and a lot of new slang.
