Organizational Leader’s Embedded Culture Analysis
Introduction
Undoubtedly, an organization’s current culture is influenced by its past leadership, but ultimately the most influential people are the current leaders. The evolution of an organization’s culture is sometimes hard to track, especially when the current leaders have been around for a long time. In such cases, it is very easy to see an organization’s current culture by simply paying attention to their leadership. Obviously, organizations also have subcultures, which might consist of macro and micro cultures, but there is no clearer gauge than the current leaders. My current job is a prime example of how the leaders are able to embed their espoused believes into organizations.

It is obvious that she was somehow put in charge due to her tenure, although that information is not really known. The ironic thing about this is that she seems to be very knowledgeable. This behavior is only observed when she is communicating with customers and members of other departments who seek her help. She is able to resolve seemingly complicated issues with ease. One of my theories is that she is afraid to share her knowledge for job security reasons. My other theory is that this is the way she was brought up in the organization and therefore became part of her espoused believes. Either way, I am not sure that she realizes the fact her behavior does not positively contribute to the origination’s mission. Her lack of interaction with her employees seems weird. Needless to say, her behavior is not what I am used to seeing coming from a military engineering background, which requires a high level of …show more content…
The communication seems to be very informal. The lack of communication allows employees such as me to guess and assume things. Everything seems to be a riddle in my organization. There is minimal verbally communication, but there is no formal written communication that I have been able to observe. The only written communication is done through the work schedule, which is written in an old calendar. As far as communicating a rewards system, I have not been able to observe that at all. Needless, to say the internal communication is virtually non-existent and employees just do their own thing. The only weird thing is that communication with customers is very professional – I have not been able to come up with a theory for this, but my workplace is there to provide administrative support for the bigger organization.
