In 1967, Israel was in the middle of a war, known as the Six Day War. The Six Day war is where Israel took over land from several countries which made a big impact in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel gained places such as East Jerusalem, all of West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights and Sinai. The borders put in place after the Six Day War, are known as the Green Line Border. Between the 1970’s-1980’s the P.L.O. began to initiate bombings on planes, which led to Israel attacking them out of fear for their safety. The Camp David Accords was a large driving factor in peace between Israel and Egypt. The Camp David Accords are important because they were able to end three-decades of trust problems against either country. Overall the Camp David Accords allowed two countries to be at peace opposed to being enemies with each other. Israel being at peace with Egypt has benefitted Israel since, Egypt is the only Arab country to be at peace with Israel due to Egypt’s secular government.

In 2014 Egypt began to side Israel and helping them out during the Gazan war. Now, under Egypt’s current president, President al-Sisi, it is believed that Israel and Palestine have opportunity to be at peace and figure out a solution. On public accounts President al-Sisi has stated that, “If by our combined efforts and real desire, we can all achieve a solution to this problem and find hope for the Palestinians and security for the Israelis”.
