“I wandered lonely as a cloud, That floats on high o'er vales and hills” (Wordsworth 1-2). Simile is a style of comparing two or more things to each other by use of words such as “like” and “as”. In this case, the poet compares himself to a cloud. The title itself shows the simile style “I wonder lonely as a cloud.” (stanza1) Another simile in the poem is in stanza four; “continuous as the stars that shine” in this case he compares the fluttering dance of daffodils as continuous shining stars. The use of metaphor style which is a style of direct comparison of two things in a poem. In this case, the poet compares himself to a cloud and compares the daffodils to humans by giving them human qualities such as “tossing their head” the metaphorical comparison shows that nature and humans are indivisible. “Inward eye” is also metaphorically used. In this case it is used to mean the internal perception or feeling of solitude that the persona
