|
depends on perspective, only one quarter of the crusaders survived but they were willing to die, they believed that they would go straight to heaven.

very poorly, because the pope said it was okay to kill any non-christians, many german warriors and barbarians would kill whole villages of jews just for their money and still get away with it.

|
they only requested a small protective group but instead received an army of hundreds of thousands, that started a war instead of protecting their one small town

they were terrified, and then infuriated. many people believe that the reason modern muslims are all considered extremists is because of the aftermath of the crusades, making them untrustworthy.

Causes of the black death
|
The black death was caused by fleas most commonly found on rats, which spread the disease throughout western asia and all of europe. the rat would die of the disease and the flea would jump to a new host, often human, and bite and infect the host.

life during the plague was not at all pleasurable; the majority of people infected died (75%) and it was incredibly hard to find good workers. the streets were lined with dead bodies, and people died so frequently that they were no longer allowed to ring a bell every time someone died as it was bad for moral

Medical Knowledge

at the time, there was very minimal medical knowledge. many people made ridiculous speculations as to what caused the plague and how it was spread. they believed it was caused by water vapor rising form the ocean, and thought that rubbing butter and onions on the infected would cure the diseases. the only effective treatment they came up with was to cut open the pus filled swellings, releasing the hazardous fluid.

|
feudalism was a ruling system based around serfs who worked for lords and knights, who were ruled by the king. the serfs, who represented the majority of the population, didn't like serfdom and rebelled, resulting in the end of feudalism. it originated in japan.

serious of battles between french and english kingdoms over who would succeed the french king, as the english king claimed to be related the monarchy.

Joan of Arc

Prominent female christian leader during the hundred years far, french. Wore mens' clothing and went into battle but it is only speculated that she fought. Was a moralistic leader, but was captured by the English and accused of witchcraft and was burned at the stake.

Dante was a philosopher near the end of the middle ages, wrote about a dream he had of traveling through the nonphysical world; entering the seven rings of hell and going through purgatory and then heaven. most famous for Dante's inferno.

English king, separated from catholic church and created anglican church to allow him to get divorced. He had six wives, and all but one of them died. He only truly loved one of them, the one that birthed his sole son, Prince Edward.

Catholic priest and religious monk who wrote out ninety five faults in the catholic church and nailed them to the church door. He massed published these faults using the printing press but was then excommunicated from the church. Cause of modern day Lutheran denomination of church.
