Rounding - Decimal Places

The decimal places of a number are the positions of the digits to the right of the decimal point.

Rounding - Significant Figures

The first significant figure of a number is the first non-zero digit (from the left), the next significant figure is the next digit along (whether zero or not), and so on.

Negative Numbers - Adding

Adding a negative number is the same as subtracting the corresponding positive number.

Negative Numbers - Subtracting

Subtracting a negative number is the same as adding the corresponding positive number.

Negative Numbers - Multiplication/Division

When two numbers are multiplied or divided: • if the signs are different, then the answer is negative • if the signs are the same, then the answer is positive.
