in the right atrium (it is called the pacemaker)

what does the SA node do?

normally initiates the electrical impulses

where is the AV node located?

in the lower part of the right atrium

what does the AV node do?

it relays the impulse from the SA node to the bundle of His and through out the ventricles via the Perkinje fibers

what are the heart rate and rhythm influenced by?

the autonomic nervous system

what can factors affecting the autonomic nervous system do?

speed up or slow down the heart rate
