A number system that uses the digits '0' through '9' to represent the decimal values '0' through '9', plus the letters 'a' through 'f' to represent the decimal values '10' through '15'.
hexadecimal color codes
A six-digit number (used instead of color names) in the form of #RRGGBB where RR is replaced by the hexadecimal color value for red, GG is replaced with the green value, and BB is replaced with the blue value. The specified amounts of each of these colors are mixed together by the system to create the color you specify.
Layout
The position of elements, for a Web site, on the computer screen.

The interface that visitors use to move through a Web site.
Margins
A measurement that specifies the amount of space that surrounds an object in a page.
Market Research
The careful investigation and study of data about the target audience's preferences for a product or service as well as the evaluation of products or services of competitors.
Metaphor
A comparison in which one object, concept, or idea is represented as another.
Monospaced Fonts
A typeface in which each letter takes exactly the same width in the line; for example, the letter i (a thin letter) takes the same amount of space as the letter m.
Page Properties
Attribute that applies to an entire page rather than to only an element in a Web page.
Proportional Fonts
A typeface in which each letter takes up a different width on the line proportional to the width of the letter. For example, the letter i takes less space than the letter m.
Remote Server Definition
The settings stored on the computer that you are using that tells Dreamweaver where the remote server is located and how to connect to it; enables you to put the site on a Web server to that it can be seen on the Web.
RGB System
A system of color that uses red, green, and blue as its primary colors (RGB stands for red, green, and blue); also called the additive color system.
Sans Serif Typefaces
A typeface in which the serifs are absent.
Scope Creep
A problem that occurs when additional elements and requirements are added to a project, causing it to grow in size, complexity, cost, and so on.
Search Engine
A website whose primary function is to gather and report the information available on the Web Related to specified keywords or phrases.
Serif Typefaces
A typeface in which a delicate, horizontal line (called a serif) finishes the main strokes of each character; for example, the horizontal bars at the top and bottom of an uppercase M.
