December 1773, Boston Colonists dressed up as indians and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor to rebel against the tea act and firmer controls on tarifs.
Boston Tea Party (December 1773)
Taxes that were imposed on the import of refined sugar and molasses. The tax was reduced when the Stamp Act was enacted.
The Sugar Act
Tax imposed on legal documents, newspapers, certificates, etc. Repealed in 1766.

Federalists spported the ratification, they believed in a Centralized Government and dividing the government into separation of power. Anti-Federalists disapproved of the ratification because it gave too much power to the government and there were no bill of rights.

To represent the people, their best interests and protect their rights. They do this by enacting laws.
How is the Articles of Confederation a reaction to the British system of government?
The government has the power to enact the laws but not without the consent of the people.
What did the Anti-Federalists Fear about the Constitution?
They feared that government has too much power and that there were no bill of rights.
Did the constitution represent the interests of all Americans?
No. Women, slaves, and non-property owners could not vote. It wasn't until the Bill of rights that all men and women could vote. Native Americans and slaves still did not have rights for some time after the Bill of Rights.

This rebel led to the need to change the Articles of Confederation. America was growing and changing and new laws needed to be created to meet those changes.
Shay's Rebellion led to the continental congress meeting to create the Constitution.
An act that was created to resolve the slave-state/free-state imbalance. Maine was admitted as a free state and Missouri was admitted (March 20, 1820) as a slave state. Slavery was prohibited in the remainder of the Louisiana Territory.
Missouri Compromise (1820)
This led to the Cherokees' being forced to march westward to Indian lands (now Oklahoma). More than 14,000 marched and 4,000 died on the way.
