A Century of Dishonor |
A book written in 1881 by Helen Hunt Jackson. The book was about the harsh treatment of Native Americans by the government. Her book sold all around the country and inspired American sympathy for the natives. |

Andrew Carnegie |
An Irish immigrant Carnegie came to the U.S at the age of 13. Carnegie came in very humble beginnings and work hard to get to the top of the Steel industry. Carnegie by the 1900's was producing 1/4 of the nations Bessemer steel. In 1901 Carnegie allows J.P Morgan to buy his steel company for $480 million. Carnegie dedicated the rest of his life to donating the money to public institutions like libraries. |

In 1910 Angel Island in San Francisco was used as an immigration station. Processed almost 1 million Asian immigrants. |

Battle of Little Big Horn |
In 1874 Colonel Custer and the 7th Calvary entered the Black Hill of South Dakota in search for gold. This led to conflicts because that land was on the Sioux Reservation. After Custer ordered the Indians to leave and they refused conflict broke put. The Sioux 2,500 strong, led by Sitting Bull wiped out Custer's troops in one of the most embarrassing battles in U.S Army history. |

In 1883 William F. Cody created a show out of the Wild West. His acting group toured around the country performing. The group include Indians, real Buffalo's, and marksmen. Annie Oakley was a favorite for her amazing aim. |

Buffalo Soldiers |
They were apart of the African American regiments. In 1866 they participated in the Indian wars and were given the name from the Natives. The Buffalo soldiers were very distinguished. |
