Work

occurs when a force exerted on an object causes that object to move some distance; work =force x distance.

Potential energy

stored energy in an object due to its position.

Kinetic energy

energy an object has due to its motion.

Current electricity

electricity that flows through a circuit, or a continuous unbro-ken path; electrons flowing from one point to another.

Resistance

the measure of how difficult it is for electrons to flow through a materi-al; measured in ohms (Ω).

Generator

a devise that used a magnetic field to turn kinetic energy into electricalenergy and can produce direct current and alternating current.

Efficiency

useful work per quantity of energy; efficiency = [output work ÷ inputwork] x 100

Friction

The force of two surfaces that touch.

Motion energy

movement of objects and substances from one place to another.

Electrical energy

the movement of electrical charges.

Sound energy

the movement of energy through substances in longitudinal waves.

Radiant energy

electromagnetic energy that travels in transverse waves.

Thermal energy

the internal energy in a substance caused by friction due to the vi-bration of atoms and molecules.

Chemical energy:

energy stored in the bonds of atoms and molecules.

Nuclear energy

energy stored in the nucleus of an atom.

Gravitational energy

the energy an object has due to its position or height above theground.

Stored mechanical energy

energy stored in an object by the application of a force.

Law of Conservation of Energy

states that energy can not be created or destroyed;it can only change form.
