Epithelial Tissue

A tissue composed of cells that line the cavities and surfaces of structures throughout the body. Many glands are also formed from this tissue.

What is Connective tissue?

A form of fibrous tissue; Collagen is the main protein of connective tissue in animals and the most abundant protein in mammals, making up about 25% of the total protein content.

What is Muscle tissue?

The contractile tissue of the body derived from the mesodermal layer of embryonic germ cells. Their function is to produce force and cause motion. Muscle cells contain contractile filaments that move past each other and change the size of the cell. They are classified as Skeletal, Cardiac, or smooth muscles.

What is Nervous Tissue?

The function of the nervous tissue is in communication between parts of the body. It is composed of neurons, which transmit impulses, and the neuralgia which assists propagation of the nerve impulse as well as provide nutrients to the neuron. Every time you get pinched, part of your nervous tissue is damaged. All nervous tissue of an organism makes up its nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.

How many types of muscle are there?

3. Skeletal, Smooth/Visceral, and Cardiac

What are the 3 types of muscle?

Skeletal, Smooth/visceral, Cardiac

What are Skeletal Muscles?

A type of striated muscle, which usually attaches to tendons. They are used to create movement, by applying force to bones and joints via contraction. They are usually voluntary, although can contract involuntarily through reflexes. The whole muscle is wrapped in a special type of connective tissue, epumysium.

What are Smooth(visceral) muscles?

Muscles that are involuntary. They are a type of nonstriated muscle, including the radially arranged iris muscles, and muscles in the digestive system, reproductive system, major blood vessels, skin, and other internal organs. Smooth muscles are controlled by the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS)

What is Cardiac Muscle?

Striated, involuntary muscle, only found in the heart.

What is Striated Muscle?

The muscle fibers are combined in parallel fashion (Skeletal and Cardiac)
