He formed the Freikorps, a body of soldiers that kept the peace.

What revolt happened in 1919?

Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxembourg, Communists, tried to take over Berlin in the Spartacist Revolt but they were defeated by the Freikorps.

What revolt happened in 1920?

The Kapp Pusch, led by Wolfgang Kapp, saw many right-wing Freikorps take over Berlin but the workers staged a General Strike and Kapp gave up.

What happened in 1923?

Germany couldn't afford to pay their reparations so France took over The Ruhr to take its resources and the German workers there were instructed to strike, leading to hyperinflation.

How much was an egg worth over the years?

In 1918 it was worth 1/4 Reichmark and in November 1923 it was worth 80 million Reichmarks and after that it was worthless.

Gustav Stresemann took over in August 1923

How did Stresemann get Germany back on track?

He called off the strike in The Ruhr.

He agreed to the Locarno Treaty in 1925 which agreed the Western borders of Germany but not the Eastern.


He signed the Kellog-Briand Pact in 1928, which promised not to use violence to settle disputes.


He replaced the Dawes Plan with the Young Plan, which reduced the amount of reparations by 3/4 and gave them 59 years to repay them, however it was never implemented due to the Wall Street Crash.
