How many meters per second does sound travel in air?

300m/s in air

Little fact: sound speed in water is faster than in air. Also the air one starts with 3.

What are the two types of waves?

Longitudinal and transverse

Idk any hints just try I guess

What is superposition?

When two or more waves merge together and interfere.

Basically it gets bigger, smaller or cancel out.

Look a bit closer at the ‘super’

Waves get bigger when the sound is quieter. True or false?

False. Waves get bigger the louder the sound gets.

Loud. Big. Same idea right?

What is ultrasound?

Ultrasound is sound that has a higher frequency then humans can hear. So basically >20,000 Hz and >20 Hz.

Ultrasound is sort of the sound dog whistles make.

What is the lowest sound and highest sound humans can hear?

This was already in another flash card in this, but I’ll make it clearer. 20Hz is the lowest and 20,000Hz is the highest.

It’s been in another flashcard.

What is the difference between constructive and destructive interference?

Constructive makes it bigger and destructive makes it smaller or cancels it out.

It’s in the name.

What is the job of the semicircular canals?

They make sure you are in balance. When you spin around fast, the liquid in these canals are still moving, but you are still. So y out feel dizzy.

Has nothing to do with sound lol

Using this diagram, define amplitude.

Amplitude is the measurement of a wave from its resting position (equilibrium) to the highest crest or trough.

Use your brain sorry

How do you measure speed?

Speed = distance\time

Use that triangle thing that I forgot how to use.

What do you call that snail shell thing in the ear?

The cochlea (haha)

The name sounds a bit inappropriate
