I can relate to how the ear functions because I have a conductive hearing loss. My ossicles is damaged, the incus doesn’t move in my left ear. So therefore, sound waves enter the ear canal and make their way to the ear drum. But once the sound waves reach the ossicles the sound waves are then broken up and not all the sound waves make it to the cochlea. To fix that problem a hearing aid comes into play. With a hearing aid the sound waves go thru a microphone, which converts the sound waves to an electrical signal and sends them to the amplifier. The amplifier then increases the power of the signal in the auditory nerve to the brain. Chapter five is about Consciousness, the idea that most interested me in this chapter was Sleep Disorders. I learned more about them and what their outcomes could be if there not dealt with properly. Sleep disorders are the changes in sleep patterns or habits that can negatively affect your health.
