1960 - All LGBTQ in government external affairs fired. 1964- Homophile Reform society started in Ontario -Tabloid gay started in Toronto - Janes Rule's - first lesbian novel - Association for Social Knowledge (ASK) formed in Vancouver
-1966 ASK opens first LGBTQ centre in Canada -Everett Klippert convicted of gross indecency and branded a dangerous sexual offender because he was an incurable homosexual.
1969 - University of Toronot Homophile Association started (UTHA) -Canadian criminal code legalized certain sexual acts between two consenting adult in private, 21 years of age or older. "Gross indecent" and "buggery" remained on the books and continued to be used against acts insufficiently "private" involving more than two person or including anyone under 21 |
