First they used marks on clay to keep track of goods. Eventually people realized having different "marks" for each household was too confusing, so they developed a set "alphabet" which developed into writing over time.

The people might have more jobs in the fishing industry and since seafood would be a consistent resource it would most likely cause them to eat more fish.

They would be able to practice both professions relating to land and water, there would be plentiful amounts of animals for food, and there would be a built-in irrigation system. Unfortunately they were prone to flooding.

|
People would live near tributaries because they can help with irrigation systems and they are a source of drinking water. It's also a good way to send goods down the river.
