Metis means 'mixed'. The metis were people who were cross cultural. Most oftenly half french and half first nations. (They were trading partners)

Coureur de Bois means "runners of the woods". These were people who were independent traders. These people could be French, British, or First Nations
Hudson's Bay Company
A monopoly of British trading posts named "The Hudson's Bay company." The HBC was established during phase 3, in 1670
