HANDWASHING...Do not re-contaminate hands at any point

AMBULATION WITH OPTIONAL USE OF GAIT BELT...Locks bed brakes to ensure residents safety. Locks wheelchair brakes to ensure residents safety.

AMBULATION WITH WALKER...Locks bed wheels. Locks wheelchair brakes.

BACKRUB...Insures resident's safety with side rail up on non working side.

BEDPAN AND OUTPUT...Washes/assists resident to wash and dry hands with soap and water. Candidate's measurement reading must be within 30cc of test observer's reading.

BLOOD PRESSURE...Candidate's recorded systolic and diastolic reading must be within 4mm of the test observers.

CATHETER CARE...Holds catheter near the urethra to prevent tugging on catheter and cleans 3-4 inches away from the urethra down the drainage tube. Cleans with strokes only away from the urethra, uses a clean portion of the wash cloth with each stroke. Does not allow the tube to be pulled at any time during the procedure.

PERINEAL CARE FOR A FEMALE...Using water and soapy washcloth (no peri wash), cleans one side of labia from top to bottom using a clean portion (corner) of a washcloth with each stroke. Using water, washcloth and soap (no peri wash) cleans rectal area from front to back with single strokes.

POSITION RESIDENT ON SIDE...Raises side rail on opposite side of the bed. Maintains correct body alignment.

RANGE OF MOTION HIP & KNEE...Does not cause discomfort or pain and does not force any joint beyond the point of free movement. (Candidate must ask if they are causing any pain or discomfort)
