Automated System Recovery
ASR
A new Windows 2003 feature that allows an administrator to restore server configuration setting in the event that a system cannot be repaired using other methods such as safe mode or last knows good configuration.
Backup Utility
The tool included with Windows Server 2003 that enables administrators to back up and restore data system configurations in case of a hardware or software failure.
Normal Backup
A backup type that backs up all selected files and folders, and clears the archive attribute on these files and folders.
Incremental Backup
A method of baking up selected files that have been created or modified since the last normal or incremental backup and clears the archive attribute associated with the files.
Defferential Backup
A method of backing up selected files that have been created or modified since the last full backup but does not clear the archive attribute.
Daily Backup
A method of backing up only the selected files that have been created or modified on the day that the backup is being performed. They are not marked as being beacked up.
Safe Mode
An advanced boot option that allows a Windows Server 2003 system to be booted with minimal services or drivers loaded, typically used for troubleshooting or diagnostic purposes.
Show Copies of Shared Files
A new feature in Windows Server 2003 that can be enabled on a volume-by-volume basis to allow a user to view or recover previous versions of files stored in shared folders.
System State
A group of critical operating system files and components that can be backed up as a single group on a Windows Server 2003 system. System State data always includes the Registry, COM+ Registration Data, boot files and system files.
Anonymous Access
Allows users to access a Web site without having to provide a user name and password.
Authentication

Digest Authentication
