Children’s TV shows and movies today I want to tell you aboutchildhood TV shows and the meanings. First of all I’ll start off with Winniethe pooh.Christopher Robin has Schizophrenia – this is when there is a malfunction inthe perception of reality which is certainly evident in Christopher havinghallucinations where he imagines his stuffed toys are aliveWinnie The Pooh has an Eating Disorder – though youmay not think of this as a mental disorder, the cause of it is Pooh’s low self-esteemwhich is psychological resulting in his excessive need for honeyPiglet has Panophobia – a mental condition where youfear everything. Piglet gets overly-nervous several times and this is apparentin the way his ears subtly twitch.Tigger has ADHD – condition of the brain which resultsin hyperactivity and trouble paying attention Rabbit has OCD– an anxiety disorder in which the person suffers from obsessive thoughts andcompulsive tendencies. These can be seen in Rabbit having uncontrollableactions such as cleaning and, basically, being a “neat freak” (but to anextreme level)Owl has Narcissistic Personality Disorder – beingexcessively preoccupied with themselves. Owl believes that he is the cleverestanimal in the wood, boasting how he has brains whilst “the others have fluff”Eeyore has Depression (OK, even I worked out thatmuch) – mental state characterised by a dejected and gloomy feeling surroundingthem and a lack of activity. I hope no explanation is needed for how thisrelates to Eeyore
The meaning behind Phineas and Ferb Candace in the show is actually real. The real Candacehas lost her mind due to bad things happening in her life. The theory says thatPhineas was her little brother and he was bullied a lotin school because the other kids thought he was too nerdy. One day a bullypunched Phineas in the head really hard and it killedhim. That daychanged Candace forever. Candace couldn’t deal with Phineas’ deathso she built an imaginary world where he was still alive and playing with herother brother Ferb. Ferb has a disability and can’t talk or do much, but sheimagines him and Phineas going on great adventures together. The real reasonwhy her mother can’t see the things that Phineas and Ferb build is that, well, they simply aren’t there. And the more Candace tries toconvince her mother the more crazy she becomes. The villain of the show Dr.Doofenshmirtz is actually Candace’s psychologist whoshe’s been seeing twice a week. It started to put a strain on the family to tryand pay for all these expensive doctor visits though.
Donald Duck’s erratic behaviouris because he has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, induced when he was a paratrooper in WWII. He seems to have fairly regularflashbacks, difficulty responding normally to social stimuli, (e.g. difficultyfalling or staying asleep, anger and hypervigilance)”
Start withthe name first. Who can deny the similarity between the name Care Bears and Carefours, the district of Port au Prince which is the heart of the Voodoo world? Can the cloud city of Care-a-Lot be anything but an idealized ‘holy city’ ofthe Lwa – a divine reflection of Care fours? Then consider some of theterminology. The Care Bears constantly want to ‘Share until you care’, just asthe Lwa want to share the bodies of their worshipers. The Care Bears areconstantly trying to be children’s ‘friends’, just as the Voodoo Lwa are oftenreferred to by their followers as ‘friendly spirits’ or just ‘friends’. Plus, the cuddly insignias on the Care Bears’ tummies line up rather nicely with thesymbols of the Voodoo gods.o/^jom
Jordan Hoffman at Ugo has made some highly disturbingobservations about the latest instalment in everyone’s favourite franchise —namely, that it’s a direct allegory to the Holocaust, with the toys as the Jews.It starts when Andy leaves for college: These toys are left behind, just ashost nations left behind the Jews as the Third Reich conquered Europe. Woodyholds a meeting, where the assembled toy family discusses possible outcomes fortheir new position in the world. Change a few words and it is the same exactscene at the train station from Roman Polanski’s award winning Holocaust drama ThePianist. No, we won’t just be abandoned. Surely we can be useful to themsomehow. Yes, we’ve lost friends (Bo Peep), but surely that can’t happen to us.Buzz Light-year stands forward and suggests sanctuary IN AN ATTIC. Are youkidding me? The cattle car comes for the toys in the form of a horrible garbagebag – but they don’t go straight to extermination. They find themselves aliveand at Sunnyside where they are put “to work.”)Once there, they meet the toyversion of Sonderkommando, toys who live they stay fed and well-sheltered (likeKen in his dream house) while leading other toys to a certain death. Newcomersare bashed and abused in the “Caterpillar Room” by non-age appropriate childrenuntil they resemble Muselmann and are eventually thrown into the trash chute. The trash chute leads to a systematic sorting of metal (e.g. any lastvaluables) until, eventually, the fiery crematoria. Our heroes get saved at thelast minute, of course, and they find themselves a new homeland. It is a placewhere many of their kind already live and have an established foothold, and itwould appear that security, finally, is at hand if they are vigilant.Op/^
The Rugratsreally were a figment of Angelica's imagination. Chuckie died a long time agoalong with his mother; that's why Chaz is a nervous wreck all the time. Tommywas a stillborn; that's why Stu is constantly in the basement making toys forthe son who never had a chance to live. The Deville’s had an abortion.e/^Om
