What does the mouth do in digestion?

The mouth churns up the food by chewing and also breaks it down with enzymes in the saliva.

What does the oesophagus do in digestion?

It pushes the food down to the stomach.

What does the Stomach do in digestion?

The food is mixed with protease enzymes, which breaks down proteins, the stomach wall moves (using muscular tissue) to break down food and hydrochloric acid is present to kill harmful bacteria, whilst being a low enough pH for the enzymes to work.

What does the Small Intestine do in digestion?

It produces more enzymes to further digest the proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Food is also absorbed through the gut wall into the blood, which takes it around the body to wherever it is needed.

What does the Large Intestine do in digestion?

The water is absorbed into the blood.

What does the Rectum do in digestion?

It stores food that cannot be digested as faeces. Later, it is pushed out of the anus.
