Name the 6 Ethical Issues
Confidentality, Privacy, Protection from Harm, Right to Withdraw, Informed Consent, Deception
What is an independent variable?
The variable you are changing/manipulating.
Give a fully operationalised hypothesis for an experiment of your choice.
Those who sleep an average of 4-6 hours every night will do worse in a race than those who sleep for an average of 8 hours.
What is meant by Experimental Design?

(The book calls it Research Design)
Identifies the specifics of the groups invovled in an experiment- ie whether there will be independent groups, repeated measures or a matched pairs design.
What is meant by matched pairs?
Experimental Design that invovles doing an experiment first with an audience and then without.
What sampling technique did you use in your own experiments?
Opportunity Sampling
What is meant by a random sample?
Involves making a list of all possible participants and then drawing a selection of them to participate in the experiment. For example putting names into a computer.
Give one advantage of an independent groups design.
Participants can do the same test in different conditions, eg with or without pictures.
Give one advantage of a repeated measures design.
Fewer participants are needed to get the same amount of data.
Give one advantage of a matched pairs design.
Important differences are minimised through matching.
Give one advantage of opportunity sampling.
It's quick and practical.
Give one advantage of random sampling.
It's fair and unbiased, in theory.
Give details of one field experiment into Eye-Witness Testimony.

(The woman with a question mark)
Yarmey asked 650 people in a public place to recall the features of a woman they'd just met, for 15 seconds, 2 minutes earlier. Younger group (18-29) were more confident at recall but there was no difference between any of the groups.
