How does the raas system regulate blood pressure |
juxtaglomerular cells located in the kidneys detect low blood pressure
In response to this the kidneys release renin
In response to this in the blood stream the liver secrets angiotensinogen
This creates angiotensin 1
Angiotensin 1 is then converted to angiotensin 2 by the lungs releasing ANGIOTENSIN CONVERTING ENZYME , this creates angiotensin 2
Angiotensin 2 works on the adrenal glands by increasing sodium reabsorption therefore increasing BP as where sodium goes water will follow therefore increasing fluid volume
Angiotensin 2 also works on the kidneys by causing vasoconstriction, which will increase blood pressure |
