3)The form has to be filled out completely by the Dr. before the patient signs it. It cannot be signed and blanks filled in later.

Define stochastic
Long-term effects of exposure to radiation. They can be random and unpredictable. Effect is usually seen between 5-30 years after exposure.
Define nonstochastic
Short-term effects of exposure to radiation, they are typical of relatively high doses.
Define Roentgen (R)
The conventional unit of radiation exposure. It represents a measurement of the radiation intensity in the air.
Define Ionizing radiation
Is radiation that when passing through the body, produces positively and negatively charged particles.
Define radiation protection
Measures taken to safeguard patients, personnel, and the public from unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation.
Absorbed dose (D)
Is the amount of energy (x-ray) per unit mass absorbed by the irradiated tissue.
Rad
Radiation absorbed dose, it is the conventional unit to measure specific tissue doses received in diagnostic applications. Rad is equal to 100 erg (an energy unit) absorbed per gram of irradiated tissue.
