However, these images tend to produce more scatter radiation, which provides a lower contrast. The variable kVp technique chart is one in which the kVp is used is varied depending on the measured body part thickness. One advantage is that it permits small incremental changes in the exposure to compensate for variations in the body part thickness. They also produce higher-contrast images. Some disadvantages in the complexity of the effect of changing kVp on the subject and the strong radiation exposure to the patient based on the kVp
